Newsletter 2008 -
2009
Welcome to our first newsletter for 2008. We thought we would take
this opportunity to give you a brief resume of the last twelve
months here at Plas Madoc.
We stared 2008 off well following our long awaited annual visit to
Madiera in January. Although this is our quietest period which
allows us to catch up with some necessary work around our home, we
still get the intrepid visitor who appreciates the quietness of
our beautiful area this time of year.
Easter was early and a nice relaxing weekend with loads of
chocolate was just what we needed. But we also need a Bentley and
a Villa in Madeira. Instead some great people stayed with us and
we had a busy but very pleasant weekend.
Spring
started off promising but didn’t last too long. I think I even
remember wearing a T shirt in February.
The Victorian Extravaganza
in May excelled itself again with so many
people saying what a fanta stic
event. We are nearly fully booked for 2009’s event already! The
steam engines and Victorian rides really
come to life in our beautiful town. The
parade is something not to be
missed;
from the May Queen to Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and the great array
of steam engines spread over
the town
is a fantastic spectacle. Who can believe these great leviathans
of steam were once part of the backbone of our industrial
heritage. The smells and sounds of these great engines as they
power the Victorian rides of old is an experience never to be
forgotten. A reminder of simpler times and our great engineering
tradition.
A wet summer was on the way and we were all hoping for better.
Although the summer weather wasn’t
brilliant we had our busiest time with lots of people coming along
to enjoy our beautiful resort. Many first time visitors are so
surprised with how strikingly scenic this area is and how much
there is to do. We love
the
comments made about the quality of Llandudno, its charm good
looks, eating places, local walks; think Haulfre Gardens to West
Shore with the fantastic views to Angelsey and the lovely quiet
promenade at West Shore then beyond to Conwy and don’t forget to
stop off in Deganwy for a drink and a bite to eat. The transport
links to Llandudno are excellent and that continues on the local
buses and trains. The rover tickets and flexi passes are great
bargains that allow you to see so much of this area for very
little cost.
As
we moved out of August into September and October things started
to quiet down a little. We still had plenty of guests to look
after and as the colours change to the collage of autumn and we
again appreciate what a beautiful place this is. The thinning of
the leaves on the trees really gives us a different perspective as
new views from our lovely house appear. Both West Shore and North
shore bays can be seen from our front rooms and many a quiet few
minutes are spent in one of them just enjoying the simple pleasure
of looking at the changing view of the Snowdonia Mountains. Then
Anita catches me and it’s back to work!
A
quiet December allowed us to catch up with the shopping and some
family visits we have
missed
out on through the year. The town looks lovely and is so quiet in
comparison to some of the towns and cities we have both had to
struggle to Christmas shop in. We do enjoy shopping in Llandudno.
Our many visitors like ourselves, are pleasantly surprised at
what’s available here.
We would like to take this opportunity to say thanks for the
lovely comments in our visitor’s book and for those left on Trip
Advisor and all the very best for 2009.
Best Wishes
Anita & Gary |
